Research Interests

Throughout my research career I have been a member of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration. In this time I have worked on a range of topics within the gravitational-wave community. Below I list my main interests within the field:

  • Detecting gravitational waves from the merger of binary systems – searching the LIGO data for gravitational wave signatures from the merger of binaries containing neutron stars/black holes using matched filter techniques (I’ve specifically worked with the pycbc search)
  • Detector Characterisation – improving the data quality of the Advanced LIGO detectors by understanding the output of the interferometers and how the data impact the analyses (specifically those mentioned above) ability to identify a gravitational wave signal.
  • Electromagnetic Counterparts – pointing electromagnetic telescopes in response to gravitational wave candidate events.
